Thanks to a black high temperature iron oxide layer, they are extremely corrosion, damage and stain resistant and can be used with metal utensils without any worries. The coated cast iron handles are securely attached with rivets and comfortably shaped. BK Black Steel is naturally pre-seasoned with oil during the production process. This cookware comes with a thin silicone wax coating that is much easier to remove than a thick layer of beeswax or grease, so it is ready to use immediately after a short clean with soap. To clean, just pour hot water over it, wipe it off and then dry. BK looks back on a long history of innovation. In 1851, coppersmith Hendrik Berk from Kampen in the Netherlands was commissioned by the inhabitants and companies of the region to produce milk jugs, pots, pans and other cooking utensils. Forty years later, he provided his steel pans and cans with a protective enamel layer and introduced the world to the world’s first enameled steel Dutch oven. This laid the foundation for BK, which still brings high quality and innovative technology to its cookware today. The coronation for BK was the award of the Royal Award by Queen Juliana in 1951 – a title given only to organizations that occupy prominent positions in their field.
